Minsang Choi from the Google Design Manager team for Google Lens, shared a new shortcut for iPhone users which brings similar functionality to the iOS. To make things possible, he made a shortcut that will quickly take a screenshot and immediately funnels into the Google app and run a Lens search. Choi says, “It’s basically a Circle to Search, but faster.”
How to Get Circle to Search-like Feature on iPhone
Choi designed this shortcut to leverage the power of the Action Button on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, there’s a workaround available you can use it to get things done on all modern iPhones running on iOS 13 or later.
First, let’s take a look at how you can setup the shortcut on your iPhone 15 Pro series with Action Button.
Step 1: Install the Google app on your iPhone or update it.
Step 2: Download this Search Your Screenshot shortcut for your iPhone.
Step 3: Go to Settings, then tap the Action Button.
Step 4: Simply choose the Shortcuts app and then select Search your Screenshot shortcut.
Now whenever you press the Action Button it will quickly take a screenshot and immediately runs a Google Lens search for it, just like Circle to Search, you can search the object from the screenshot to get better detailed information related to it.
If you own an iPhone 6S or newer model, then you can setup the shortcut by utilizing the Double Tap or Triple Tap accessibility feature, thanks to folks over at 9to5Google. Follow these steps to setup the Google Lens Screenshot shortcut on older iPhones.
Step 1: Install the Google app and download this Shortcut.
Step 2: Go to Settings, then tap Accessibility.
Step 3: Select Touch under the Physical and Motor section.
Step 4: Scroll down to Back Tap, choose Double Tap or Triple Tap option and scroll down to bottom and select Google Lens Screenshot Shortcut from the Shortcuts section.
